Despite the fact that Horace Parlan was afflicted with polio at an early age, he is a miracle in the respect that he has overcome obstacles in his life to achieve his musical goals. Most of his finest work was preserved on Blue Note Records from 1959 to 1963. He has lived in Copenhagen, Denmark since 1973. Annette Lowman met him as a result of her musical relationship with Archie Shepp.
