Pianist, composer, conductor and professor, György Vukán is one of
Hungary's most remarkable musicians. He has composed for symphony and chamber
ensembles, movies, ballets, theatres, big band, radio and TV productions, ...
All this was achieved during the Cold War which forced him to devote most of his
time to dentistry instead of music...
Annette Lowman has had the privilege to work with György Vukán on many
occasions. One of them was "Derby", a modern day musical version
of Romeo and Juliet. She wrote the lyrics for the concluding act, the
song was entitled "Prelude to Death" (1989).
